Alternative therapy reappears

(Dr. Chen Yi Kui)

Alternative therapy.

Regarding this term, you may have heard or read it in some newspapers, magazines, and TV broadcasts in recent days. Maybe you don’t understand it, but in fact, there are many "alternative therapies" that you have been exposed several times to at least since childhood.

In the general classification of "alternative therapies", some doctors and experts will regard it as outdated and inconsistent with modern practices, but we believe that such practices are actually somewhat arbitrary and should be viewed in another way.

The so-called "alternative", we define it as "medical treatment that does not belong to the mainstream", and in the modern society of the 21st century, the "mainstream" that most people identify should be the Western medical system with Western medicine as the main body.

Many traditional therapies that do not belong to these systems have mostly been abandoned to dark corners. Some people don't understand it at all, and some people sneer at it.

The person who is the most unfriendly to "alternative therapy" can probably be regarded as a person from the Western medical system. In an article about "alternative therapy", the doctor who wrote the article had a very subjective and negative view of various alternative therapies.

"...Modern medicine is formed by combining the medical essence of all ethnic groups in the world, shared by humans all over the world, and is the orthodox medical model (conventional therapy or orthodox therapy) for modern patients. We cannot have misclassifications of Chinese and Western medicine. There is no such thing as the existence of "scientific Chinese medicine" and " Chinese medicine scientifically".

"Remaining primitive therapies that have not been scientifically verified and have no clear curative effect become folk medicine or folk remedy (folk medicine), also known as unconventional or unorthodox therapies. These therapies are currently often classified as alternative remedy (alternative remedy), including traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, guasha, cupping, tuina, qigong, etc. that are familiar to the public; there are also prayers in Western countries, ayurvedic medicine, and herbal remedies (herbalism), and homeopathic medicine, etc..."

However, the real "alternative therapy", or using another name "traditional therapy" or "folklore therapy", really does what he said, "failed to pass scientific verification", "has no clear curative effect," and then it is useless?

In fact, it is clearly not the case.

Since childhood, you must have seen a lot of "traditional therapies" passed down from ancestors and even grandmothers at home. Even in the age of scientific prosperity, it still has its place.

For example, wrapping a bowl of rice with cloth swaying in front of a child is the "reduction of shock" that is still used by many people to this day.

A child was frightened, and suffered from loss of appetite, insomnia, and crying at every turn. From the perspective of Western medicine, he could only prescribe some tranquilizers, or be helpless, with a few words to comfort him.

However, if such a child reaches the frightened old woman, only a bowl of rice can make the child settle down quickly, and even the way the rice grains are arranged after shaking can tell what the child is frightened of. The utility is much better than those of pediatric doctors who have been in medical school for ten years.

From a scientific point of view, there is no scientific basis for the method of "removing the shock". The bowl of rice is obviously plain and unremarkable. The old woman who is shocked is not a supernatural person. What, for thousands of years, generations of shocked old women can hardly settle countless panicked children and minimize the sequelae of frightened.

There is an anecdote in science that once said that according to scientists studying bumblebees, using all the most sophisticated computer analysis and mechanical data inference, the final conclusion is:

The body of a hornet is too heavy and its wings are too light, so no matter what, it is impossible for a hornet to fly in the sky..."

Is this conclusion funny?

If you put the sentence before, who cares how your scientist analyzes it? What we see is that the bumblebees may have existed on the earth for millions of years. For millions of years, they are still flying freely in the sky, worry-free and at ease. Who cares about a human being who has only existed on earth for thousands of years with useless theories researched?

For the same reason, Western medicine's views on "alternative therapy" can only be used as reference, and there is no need to follow the imperial edict.

In this world, for any nation with a history and culture, alternative therapy has long been passed down from generation to generation. Even though it may be undocumented, perhaps there is no written record, it is often well-established and accepted by the people.

For example, the special eggnog and ginger soup handed down by the old grandma; the healing herbs of the Indian aborigines, etc., even going to the temple to burn incense to remove the shock can alleviate many different illnesses and make it impossible for western medicine to do. The effects achieved are the common treatments that have been common since childhood. They are also the natural heritage of human culture. They are not only enduring, but also fundamental to the philosophy of human nature.

Take another simplest example! Someone once did an experiment with two kittens that were also injured. One of them was treated with the most perfect western medicine method, with the best medicine, the best injection, and properly bandaged with bandages.

And what about the other one? Nothing is needed, just give it to the female cat to take care of it. It does not have any Western medical care, and some of it is just the female cat’s tongue licking its wound.

What is the result of the final discovery, readers probably guessed it too? The one who received injections and medicine and tied the bandage did not recover as fast as the one who only relied on the female cat to lick the wound!

Isn't this one of the most primitive and magical natural remedies? No drugs, no side effects, and the effect lasts for a long time.

In many cases, treatments of this nature are the "alternative treatments" that we have been discussing, which are completely useless in the eyes of "western medicine".

The theory of the supremacy of science has, in the past 100 years, created brilliant civilization achievements in human history, but it does not mean that everything recognized by scientism is the truth.

The reason is very simple. It's like when we are watching NBA basketball, most of the stars with the best physical fitness and the best skills are blacks, but it does not mean that all blacks must play well in basketball.

The martial arts of Shaolin Temple may be the best in the world, but it does not mean that all monks from Shaolin Temple must be martial arts masters.

In fact, it is human nature to reject ignorance of things. Whether it is a modern scientific person, or a European who believes in witchcraft in the Middle Ages, human thinking has blind spots and to things that you don’t understand or can’t see are repelled first.

Regarding this point, Master Chen Yikui, who has studied back and forth between the fields of metaphysics and science for decades, is even more impressed.

"If you are a person who doesn't understand something at all, your view of the matter is likely to be distorted, even to the point where it is completely incomprehensible," Master Chen Yikui briefly cited an example. "In the medical system of Western medicine, the most helpful thing for human health is surgery, because this knowledge is exclusive to Western medicine. Even if it is all-encompassing Chinese medicine with a history of 5,000 years cannot match it.

"But the bloody scenes during surgery are something that many people can't normally handle. Some people even faint when they see the bloody scenes. This is the case for those of us who know so much about surgery, then if it's right. What about people who can't understand it at all?

"Today, let us imagine, if an ancient person or even a primitive person saw the scene of a doctor performing an operation, what kind of understanding would they have?”

"Those who don’t have any knowledge of surgical operations, absolutely can’t imagine. They cut a person bloody, and took out the internal organs from their body, and used a lot of shiny weapons to "counter" this poor one. Who was cut into pieces actually wanting to heal him and get him healthy?”

"But in fact, as long as everyone in modern people hears the word "operation", they will never associate it with''killing `` or''cruel ``.''

Therefore, in the matter of "solving pain", Master Chen Yikui believes that there is no difference between progress and regression, and it does not necessarily mean that the newer the treatment, the better, but it depends on its true effect.

In terms of "effects", there are many "alternative therapies" that are not recognized by modern medicine, but they actually have more powerful effects.
