In Hakka dialect, water spinach is called "omg Cai". It is very easy to grow. As long as there is soil or water, it can grow roots and leaves. Almost every Hakka household planted it.
Mr. Chen Yikui gave a special introduction to water spinach. He said that once a friend's child had a high fever and took anti-fever medicine during the day. Although it went down immediately, the fever persisted at night, so he asked Mr. Chen for advice; It was just in the evening. Teacher Chen told him to find some water spinach and irradiate it with a flashlight for half an hour. After letting him do photosynthesis, pick it up and soak it in boiled water to drink.
Another is my aunt's experience. In the 1946's of the Republic of China, there were pharmacists from door to door to store medicine bags in private homes. At that time, the medical management was not as strict as it is now, and anyone in the family would take it with a cold, fever and diarrhea. There are also conveniences. Because my cousin's aunt was illiterate, one day my cousin had a fever when he was only a month old. She took the antipyretic medicine in the medicine bag. One packet should be divided into four doses, but she brewed and poured it into my cousin’s mouth. As a result, the overdose not only did not heal, but his face turned black. She hurriedly took it to the doctor. The doctor did not dare to prescribe the medicine because there was no hope. "What's wrong with your child?" She replied, "He had a fever, and I gave him an overdose of medicine, then he got medicine poison." The elderly gentleman Ni said, "Go back and pick water spinach leaves and soak it in boiling water to prevent the poison.” My aunt hurriedly went back and did as instructed. Ten minutes later, after giving my cousin that drink, his complexion turned normal. Now my cousin is 55 years old and very healthy.
The slightly cool water spinach has a detoxification function. Teacher Chen Yikui also recommends that the water spinach be fried with lard and garlic. It is very, very delicious,tasty, pure and delicious, and the green vegetables are high in chlorophyll.
